To find the trail go to the southernmost parking area in the reserve. The walk is pleasant, less than a mile round trip. Pine forests and coastal sage scrub around a rocky shore characterize the hiking views. You can access both China Cove and Gibson Beach from the trail. As you approach Bird Island overlook you might see some spectacular large-species birds such as pelicans, black-crowned night herons, and Western gulls. You'll also see marine life such as seals and sea lions. The reserve is open from 8 AM to 7 PM with last entry at 6:30 PM. Don't forget your binocular for bird-watching!
