Description:

Located within Town Square Park, nestled between Town Hall and the Franklin W. Chase Memorial Library, stands the 9/11 Memorial and Garden. At its heart lies a structural steel beam salvaged from the Twin Towers, serving as a poignant reminder of the tragic events of September 11, 2001. Surrounding this solemn centerpiece are glazed tiles, meticulously crafted by Boy Scouts, each representing countries that lost innocent civilians in the attacks on U.S. soil. This meaningful installation emerged from the dedicated efforts of Jeffrey Edward Cox from Troop 6, whose Eagle Scout project, initiated under the guidance of Mayor Gary Bruhn in 2009, aimed to honor the memory of those affected by the tragedy.
