Legend has it that a princess sought refuge in this mysterious cave to escape a cruel husband. Her husband found her and sadly murdered her. It's said that the tiny red shrimp that turn the cave pool blood red are to commemorate her death. Today we know that the caves are lava tubes and they stay around a temperate 70 degrees Fahrenheit year round.
