Gary, Indiana brings to mind Ron Howard's wailing rendition of the song with the same name in the 1962 film "The Music Man," but it was also the birthplace of Michael Jackson - a music man in his own right. The white clapboard house and the town of Gary are not at all prepossessing especially considering his opulent life as a musician but the stark contrast makes his beginnings all the more fascinating.
