Description:
If you’re looking for calm waters, even in the winter while other beaches are experiencing rough surf, look no further than Pokai Bay beach. The water here is protected by jetties, so the bay’s waves remain gentle and perfect for novice swimmers year round. There are also sloped sandy areas as well as shaded areas of lawn ideal for picnicking. At the south end of the bay is a peninsula filled with stately coconut palms, the natural abundance of which lent Pokai Bay its name. As the story goes, Pokai was a legendary Hawaiian chief who is credited by native islanders for bringing the very first coconut palm tree to the Hawaiian Islands.
