The Ehukai Pillboxes is a heavily trafficked loop trail of moderate difficulty, featuring wildflowers, unique terrains, and views. Located near Haleiwa, Oahu, Hawaii this 2.3-mile trail is accessible year-round and leashed dogs are welcome. The initial climb is very steep and uneven, but the effort is worth it to see the bunkers, the beautiful sunset, and incredible views of the Banzai Pipeline. If you go in the evening, be sure to bring some portable lighting for the trip down. This hike will take at least 1 to 2 1/2 hours because of the numerous photo opps! Wear good shoes and fill your water bottles at the trailhead entrance at the bottom of Sunset Beach Elementary School. You can see the trail's marked entrance from the elementary school's parking lot. The hike is fun for the entire family and even kids under 10 shouldn't have a problem. The beginning of the walk is the steepest and probably the most challenging part and paths are paved well but can be a bit slippery if wet.
