The world's tallest Doric column is situated on a small island on the western side of Lake Erie. The 352-foot-tall memorial was constructed from 1912-1915. It commemorates those who fought in the Battle of Lake Erie in the War of 1812 and celebrates the lasting peace between Canada, Britain, and the U.S. (Submitted by Ashlee Dustman)
