Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo

With 290 animals, this zoo is smaller in scale, but it doesn't disappoint. It's had some trouble with hurricanes but generous donations from the public have aided in its rebuilding and surviving the torrents. Much of its rebuilding efforts were featured on Animal Planet. If you want to spend a bit extra, you can pay to pet and feed selected animals.
