Wanting to leave his native Idaho and its harsh winters, Henry Stuart left for Alabama in 1923. Although Alabama was warmer it was more prone to hurricane damage. So he built a hurricane-resistant abode, a round dome shape that would easily deflect wind and the damaging downpour of rain. Due to ill health he couldn't finish his project but the community maintained the structure for posterity.
