Alaska SeaLife Center

Saves: 16

Alaska's frigid temperatures haven't stopped animal life from thriving here. The ASLC celebrates the wildlife diversity providing a safe haven and doubling as a research facility to promote the welfare of the native animals. It is one of the very few facilities in the U.S. to be accredited as an aquarium and research center. Most of the money to build the center was provided by Exxon Valdez in a settlement after the infamous disaster of the early '90s and as such this aquarium rehabilitates sick and injured sea animals. Along with the enclosed tanks there are interactive exhibits where visitors can touch starfish and urchins.
