Barrow, Alaska

Not only is this place beyond the Arctic Circle the northernmost point city in Alaska, it is also the northernmost city in the U.S. Before the descendants of Europeans settled here the Inupiat people hunted whales for the meat, skin, bones, and blubber the sea mammals provided. The indigenous people still live and hunt here although they are only allowed 24 whales per year.
