Description:
Lucky Wishbone opened in 1955 when George and Peggy Brown built the restaurant themselves on East 5th Avenue in Anchorage, and it quickly became a beloved community landmark that even survived the 1964 earthquake. Over the years it gained a loyal following for its family friendly atmosphere and in 1990 it became Alaska’s first smoke-free restaurant in honor of George’s mother. In 2025 it earned the James Beard “America’s Classics” Award which recognized its long standing cultural significance. The menu is famous for crispy pan fried chicken, hand pattied burgers, golden fries, onion rings, and thick milkshakes that have kept generations of Anchorage families coming back.
