Lipan Point elevation is 7,360 feet, offering almost a 360 degree panoramic view of the Grand Canyon. From this scenic overlook you can see Hance Rapid on the Colorado River, the Grand Canyon Supergroup, Unkar Delta, and the San Francisco Peaks. Hance Rapid, powerful whitewater rapids along the Colorado River, can be heard from Lipan even though the point is 3.8 miles away. Another exciting site at Lipan Point is the rocks of the Grand Canyon Supergroup. These titled rocks are visible from only a few places on the South Rim and shifted due to massive faulting - they are 740 million to 1,200 million years old! Lipan Point is on the Desert View Drive part of Arizona Highway 64.
