Mineral Discovery Center

The Asarco Mineral Discovery Center opened in 1997 to convey the vital importance of mining in our civilization. Everything we use daily had been extracted from the earth in some manner by either mining or farming. The Center consists of two exhibit pods. The south pod houses temporary exhibits and a gift shop and the north pod contains permanent exhibits and a 35-seat, discovery theater. A growing number of historic mining equipment is located on the grounds outside. There is also a desert-landscaped picnic area adjacent to the mining equipment display.
