Description:

Navajo Point is the highest spot anywhere on the South Rim at 7,498 feet (however, the top of the five-story watchtower at Desert View is slightly taller). Just half a mile west of Desert View, Navajo Point offers an alternative view of Colorado's "big bend" area. Below the rim you'll find Escalante and Cardenas Buttes which are next to Tanner Canyon. This South Rim overlook imparts exceptional views of the stone watchtower and Colorado River. Desert View Drive travels along the South Rim of the canyon 23 miles and is open to private vehicles.
