Powell Point

Powell Point on the canyon rim trail is off Hermit Road. The course features incredible, colorful panoramas and the Powell Memorial which honors the pioneer Wesley Powell who led the first recorded journey down the Colorado River in 1869. You'll see Maricopa Point and the Orphan lode Mine from other vantage points but what dominates the landscape is the vast granite memorial. The views from the area behind the monument seem even better than the view of the canyon from the top! Behind the memorial, you'll find a few benches and a rock ledge to snap some pictures of your adventure. The views at this point stretches further west until Hopi Point.
