This is the center of the Petrified Forest which was declared a national monument by President Roosevelt in 1906. The museum exhibits include reproductions of Jurassic animal skeletons, plenty of information about petrified wood, and artifacts from the area's human history. You can get permits, maps, and access to the different trails. To get to the museum, take Hwy 180 and turn on Petrified Forest Rd. Drive about two miles and you'll see the museum on your left hand side. It's open every day from 8 to 5. (Submitted by Rajie Brown)
