Santa Claus Ghost Town

It might be one of the saddest places in the world - where the hope and joy of the Christmas season slowly withered away under the scorching Arizona sun. The town had a brief moment of popularity in the 1930s and 1940s - Robert Heinlein, Jane Russell, and Duncan Hines once dined in the Santa Claus Inn. Inevitably the poor location and the unwillingness of people to relocate here drove the Yule-themed town out of business. (Photo by Lacey Newman)
