200 acres of land at 7,150 feet in elevation is home to native plants, most of which are drought tolerant in the dry Southwestern heat. Around 750 species of plants thrive here. They represent the flora of the Colorado Plateau. The horticultural collection is on what used to be a ranch and the home of philanthropist Frances McAllister. You can join in on classes, garden tours, and walks organized by the Arboretum; see the website for current information. (Submitted by Rajie Brown)
