These "tepees" are strangely beautiful, conical hills that rise out of the flat desert landscape are horizontally infused with a rainbow of neutral hues. Revealed through erosion, this is nature's artist brush at its finest, starting over 200 million years ago. From I-40, go south on Petrified Forest Rd. Drive about five miles and you'll see The Tepees on your right-hand side.
