Wupatki National Monument

Wupatki is nicely situated between the Painted Desert and Arizona's northern highlands. The landscape seemed uninviting and yet you see traces of the ancient pueblos that dotted across the miles of prairie. In an area lacking water, families were raised and people farmed, traded, and survived! Hike on your own or take a guided hike led by volunteers and rangers to backcountry sites off limits normally.
