Buckyball at Crystal Bridges is an iconic sculpture located in Bentonville, Arkansas. Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, known for its stunning architecture and extensive collection of American artworks, commissioned this impressive installation in 2014. The sculpture is named after the famous American architect, inventor, and futurist Buckminster Fuller who popularized the concept of the geodesic dome. The Buckyball itself is a massive, stainless steel sculpture representing a geodesic sphere. It's comprised of 180 triangular panels, each measuring about three feet in length. The sculpture stands at an impressive height of 23 feet and weighs over five tons. Its intricate design showcases the mathematical precision and structural strength of the geodesic dome.
