Description:

Constructed by Chinese railroad workers over 150 years ago, the "China Wall" on Donner Summit stands as a remarkable feat of engineering. This wall, along with four tunnels, enabled train travel to the west. The wall itself was built without any mortar, using carefully fitted stones, while the tunnels were carved out of solid granite through two years of intense labor. Today, a memorial plaque located on Old Hwy 40 at Donner Summit serves as a testament to the incredible efforts of these Chinese workers.
