Description:
The Abandoned Girl’s Camp Pool in Griffith Park was originally built in the 1920s as part of a rustic camp for young girls in the park’s interior. After a major fire in the 1950s destroyed much of the camp, the pool survived and was later used by a boys’ camp before eventually falling out of operation when newer facilities were built elsewhere. By the late 1980s the pool was officially closed, left to deteriorate, and slowly reclaimed by nature. To visit the site today, park at the Wilson and Harding Golf Courses and follow Camp Road to its end where the silent concrete shell of the old pool still remains.
