Description:

After operating for 127 years the oldest facility to serve individuals with developmental disabilities quietly closed its doors in 2018 at the behest of Governor Jerry Brown. When it opened in 1891 it was known by the much less politically correct "California Home for the Care and Training of Feeble Minded Children." Being abandoned for a few years, the building hasn't shown a severe amount of damage just yet. The grounds are said to be haunted; it was listed in declassified government documents as one of the facilities where human radiation experiments took place. The facility is also the setting for "Told in the Drooling Ward," a short story by Jack London. (Submitted by Christine Peeples)
