Description:

A very rare event indeed, Alamere Falls descends directly into the ocean giving it an almost surreal appearance. Also called a tidefall, it goes over shale cliffs approximately 39 feet high. The NPS website states unequivocally there is no park-sanctioned formal trail and hiking down to the beach using informal trails can be treacherous in addition to causing damage to the fragile environment. NPS recommends going to Alamere Falls via the trails to Wildcat Campground. However, this can only be attempted when the tide is low as walking from Wildcat Beach to the falls at high tide is hazardous. See the NPS website for more details.
