Description:
Big Creek Bridge is on the southern portion of the Big Sur coast along State Route 1. The concrete deck arch is a 589-foot-long behemoth! Driving across the bridge is worth the trip to take a picture from the other side. The bridge opened for traffic in 1938 and crossed Big Creek Canyon. The construction of the bridge was during the Great Depression and it got a seismic retrofit in 1999. Parking areas are located at both ends of the bridge, allowing motorists to stop and take photos.
