Located in Morro Bay State Park, Black Hill Summit is a volcanic peak standing at 661 feet tall. It can be conquered by embarking on a scenic 0.6-mile out-and-back hike along a dirt single track. With an elevation gain of 190 feet, this trail rewards hikers with captivating vistas of Morro Bay. To begin, make your way to the trailhead parking area at the end of Upper State Park Rd. It's worth noting that this parking lot is relatively small, accommodating only around 5 or 6 cars, so it's advisable to arrive early. From there, set foot on the dirt trail, ensuring you stay left at the junction. The entire journey should take approximately 15-20 minutes to complete.
