Borax Museum Furnace Creek

The seemingly barren California desert is one of two places in the world where borax can be found (the other being Turkey). This museum highlights the historical importance of borax mining and how it was carried out. Displays of authentic locomotives and wagons that were pulled by 20 mule teams, artifacts, photos, and newspaper clippings bring the borax industry of the late 1800s to life.
