Description:

The Mojave Desert is surprisingly rich in borax, having one of the biggest deposits in the world. The Visitor Center, dedicated to the importance of borax mining in the area, was established in 1997, even though borax mining has a 150-year history here. The exhibits include historical and geographical displays, photo ops, a video theater, 20 mule team replica, a gift shop, and borax souvenirs. It's open every day from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and is free to visit, but relies on donations from the public.
