Description:

Chavez is likely the most important and influential Latino leader of the 20th century and his name is given to this monument - a 116-acre park in Kern County. It was the headquarters and base of operations for the United Farm Workers labor union and the home of Chavez himself until his death in 1993. President Obama established the monument during his tenure on October 8, 2012.
