Description:
Calaveras Big Trees State Park, established in 1931, protects two groves of majestic giant sequoias—the easily accessible North Grove and the more secluded South Grove—spread across about 6,498 acres in the Sierra Nevada near Arnold, California. The park is also home to the famous Discovery Tree stump—a massive remnant that helped spark early conservation efforts—and offers a network of trails, camping, river beaches, and seasonal activities like snowshoeing under these towering, centuries-old giants.
