The gaily painted aquamarine building was opened in 1994 by Russ and Carol Kiessig. Around 75 different marine species native to San Luis Obispo inhabit the aquarium such as swell sharks and moon jellies. To get there take the 101 to Avila Beach Drive which will lead you down to the beach and aquarium. There is free street parking but you can opt for the nearby Avila Beach Parking which costs a few dollars. Hours are 10 AM to 4 PM every day except Monday (closed). Admission costs around $8 per adult (last listed price; please call to get updated info).
