Description:
Don't let the word "abandoned" scare you away. This secluded beach just south of San Francisco is captivating in its loneliness. A pier once crossed the waters in the late 1800s. Now only the pillars remain, rising out of the ocean in evenly spaced intervals, evoking a Dali-esque surrealistic experience. A hiking trail goes straight down to the beach, but it is very difficult to trek down. For a less dangerous descent find the trail that is just north. (Submitted by Eina Suarez)
