Description:
In 1867, whaling captain John Davenport built a shipping wharf and thus Davenport was born. Today, it is a quaint town that most people might just drive by without a second though. Known as "Slowcoast" this might be a stop you'd want to make especially when you want a breather from city life. Also here is the famous Davenport Crack, a cleft in the coastal rock that stretches from the southern edge of the beach all the way out into the ocean. With the changing tides and glorious sunsets it's a favorite spot for photographers. To get there you'll hike straight down from Cabrillo Hwy.
