7,000 square feet surrounded by public park land, encompasses habitats for native plants and animals as well as the centerpiece - the "Old Woman Meteorite." This giant space rock was discovered in 1975 and weighed in at 6,070 pounds, although 942 pounds of that weight was excised for further examination at the Smithsonian Institute. Just as the name suggests, the Desert Discovery Center is a kid-friendly place aimed at engaging the youth in scientific knowledge.
