Saves: 26

The craggy, pockmarked landscape would be the playground for the Prince of Darkness, hence the descriptive name. The spiky formations are created when water evaporates from the salt-rich earth, leaving behind spires, some of which are as high as 2 feet. The unholy golf course is part of Death Valley National Park and is open 24/7. You might even hear snaps, crackles, and pops, which are the crystals of salt bursting in the high heat of the desert. To get there, take CA-190 to Badwater Rd. and travel about five miles to West Side Rd. Make a right and you'll be able to see the salt formations from the road, about 1.5 miles down.
