Description:

The Donner Party is perhaps one of the most famous to leave the Midwest for California. Their horrific experiences have been recounted since their journey in the mid 1800s - 48 out of 87 survived - including 32 children. Their later years were marked by permanent physical disabilities and severe PTSD. This monument honors all of the pioneers who were ordinary people trying to make a better life for themselves and their families.
