Raymond Gage didn't live here, but he lovingly created the largest and most elaborate piece of art in Sacramento. Gage's inspiration was not a burning desire to create something but to cover poor workmanship in the stucco that lay underneath. Incredibly, each tile was handmade by Carolyn Belmore, the owner of the house. She fired the tiles in her kiln and Raymond applied them. A project that was meant to repair damage and be cost-effective turned out to be one of the most beautifully intricate things to see in the city.
