Description:

In 1890, Clementine Parantau purchased a tract of land from the California Mutual Benefit Colony of Chicago. On this land she established Simi Valley's first cemetery. The first person to be laid to rest here was one of the Parantau clan - James Parantau, who succumbed to tuberculosis in 1893. Clementine followed a few years later in 1898. This section of the cemetery is where you will find the graves of the people who first settled Simi Valley.
