Description:

Elmshaven, constructed in 1885 by railroad developer Robert H. Pratt, initially served as a vacation residence for the Pratt family until 1900. In that year, Ellen G. White, a prominent figure in the Seventh-day Adventist Church, acquired the property and resided there until her passing in 1915. White, known for writing about 60 religious books, crafted nine volumes in the upper writing room at Elmshaven. Today, the house retains much of its original furnishings, including items owned by White, and is preserved by the Seventh-Day Adventist Church. Open to the public, Elmshaven provides a glimpse into the lifestyle of both the Pratt family and Ellen G. White, offering a peaceful setting for those interested in architecture, antiques, church history, or a glimpse into life a century ago.
