Envy Wines

Envy Wines traces its roots back to the mid-1980s when the Carter House Victorian was established and later expanded into the Hotel Carter with the renowned Restaurant 301. Mark Carter, inspired by his experiences managing the restaurant, curated an award-winning wine list since 1998, featuring exceptional global selections. Mark's passion for wines led to the creation of Carter Cellars, aiming to produce the finest Napa Cabernet. His collaboration with acclaimed winemaker Nils Venge, known for achieving the first "perfect score" from Robert M. Parker Jr., solidified their partnership. In 2006, they founded Envy Winery in Calistoga, specializing in estate-grown Cabernet Sauvignon, Petite Sirah, Merlot, and Sauvignon Blanc on a 17-acre property. Envy Wines has steadily expanded, now producing nearly 2,500 cases annually from their estate vineyard and select Napa Valley vineyards.
