Fallen Monarch, Grant Grove
This Fallen Monarch is estimated to be over 2,000 years old and measures over 27 feet in diameter at its base. It's one of the largest and oldest trees in the park. The Fallen Monarch has a rich history and it's been a popular destination for tourists for many years. In the late 1800s, a hotel was built around the tree and it became a popular spot for visitors to take photographs and marvel at its size. Today, the tree is protected by the National Park Service and visitors are allowed to explore it and its surroundings, but are urged to be respectful and careful not to damage the fragile ecosystem that has developed around it.
