Gaslamp Quarter Sign

Developed in 1867 this little San Diego district is proof that those early endeavors to create a settlement finally came to fruition. Believe it or not this picturesque part of Southern California had difficulty in becoming a thriving city but today it is one of the most sought-after places to live. The Gaslamp Quarter Sign welcomes visitors and locals to this officially recognized historic district, one of the biggest attractions in San Diego. It was finally installed in 1990. Even though you might see "Gaslamp Quarter" around town, know that locals usually call it the "Gaslamp District."
