Description:
In 1898, 13-year-old Richard Bertram "Bert" Barrett, son of a quicksilver miner, experienced a tragic hunting mishap resulting in the loss of half his left arm. In adherence to the laws of that era, which mandated the burial of severed body parts, a gravesite was established at Hacienda Cemetery. Despite this misfortune, Bert lived on for another 61 years and his final resting place lies alongside his wife, Irma, is located at Oak Hill Memorial Park, 11 miles from Hacienda Cemetery and his left arm!
