Built of native coastal redwood in 1892, it was once the private residence of the Johnson family who headed the Fort Bragg Redwood Company. It also acted as a king of "model home" which extolled the virtues of using redwood as a building material. Business hours vary with the season, but they are very limited, usually Thursday through Sunday from 11 AM to 2 PM with free admission.
