Happy Face Hill

It was a joint effort by unconnected people, spanning a few decades. The informal project started in 1998 when Sonny Klamerus etched a giant smiley face into the side of a hill that is clearly visible from the 118 Fwy. About half-a-football field wide, the smiley face has been adorned with solar lights, turned into a frown, and repaired by good Samaritans. While the smiley face was not sanctioned by Simi Valley, it is now a cultural icon bringing frustrated SoCal drivers a bit of happiness.
