Description:

Historic because of its prominence during the Gold Rush, Auburn's first European settlers were a group of French miners in 1848. By 1850, the population exploded to 1,500. The crown jewel of Old Town Auburn is certainly the Placer County Courthouse which was finished in 1898. There are other landmarks of note within the town square area such as the gold-miner statue and historic gold extraction tools/equipment. The post office has been operating for over 140 years. Old Town has a great selection of shops and restaurants and some walking tours you can sign up for.
