One of California's small handful of UNESCO World Heritage Sites, the Hollyhock House was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright and built in 1921 in the style of Mayan Revival architecture. It was originally designed for oil heiress Aline Barnsdall who donated the house to the city shortly thereafter in 1927. Today, it is open for tours; tickets can be purchased on hollyhockhouse.org.
