Description:
Perched atop an extinct volcanic cinder cone in Newberry Springs, California, the Volcano House was built in 1969 for engineer and inventor Vard Wallace, with a striking dome design by architect Harold James Bissner Jr. Television host Huell Howser purchased the home in 2003, using it as a desert retreat before donating it to Chapman University in 2012 for educational purposes. Known for its futuristic, mid-century architecture and panoramic Mojave Desert views, the Volcano House has since become an iconic landmark celebrated for its unique blend of Space-Age design and desert solitude.
